MAM with the joint organiser SMS Motorsport & Driving is organising the MAM Kart Slalom Series 2009. There will be four rounds at the different venue and mostly catered to Northern Region motorsports enthusiast especially kids.
However, in Kart Slalom or Kart Gymkhana, the emphasis is on driver skill and vehicle control. Skill and style are just as important - if not more so - than overall time. Gymkhana courses are set up to challenge all aspects of a driver and vehicle, not just speed. Some Gymkhanas will call for drivers to back up and "park" in a spot before they can run out and perform figure-eights around a series of cones.
While, the Kart Slalom event will run similar as Autokhana event but using go-kart with slow speed, shorten & small course and for kids below 12 years old only. MAM Kart Slalom Championship will be connected to MAM Kart Talent Search and after that to the National Karting Race.
There are 5 categories in the series :
- Class KS Kadet : Age 7 – 12 years old
- Class KS Junior : Age 13 – 15 years old
While the Sub-Category are:
- Fastest Time MAM kart Slalom 2009 Overall Champion – for the highest scorer series point in every round (to be determined at the end of series).
- Fastest ‘Barbie’ Girl Award – for the fastest nominated times for girl in every round.
- Best ‘Dare To Fly’ Kids Award – for the most outstanding spirit / trying during every round.
