The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (‘MAM’) the national motorsports development body will intensify its collaboration with Sepang International Circuit (‘SIC’) the prime national motor sport facilities in the country. Under this collaboration arrangement, the management of MAM and SIC will be working hand in hand in developing the national motor sport program and the facilities at SIC further to fulfill the Malaysian Government’s vision to develop Malaysia and in particular SIC into a regional motor sports hub.

Mr.Jagjeet Singh the Event Manager of WheelSpin Event Management has been an affiliate of MAM since 2008. He has been organising motor sport events for the enthusiast at a reasonable cost since then. Mr.Jagjeet is popular among the rally enthusiast. Featured below is a short get to know session for those who are new to the industry.

A 2 days technical motor sport course organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia was held at the Kompleks Rakan Muda Daerah Bera Pahang on May 20-22. The course was attended by a total of 44 participants which includes 4 ladies from the state of Pahang, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur and Wilayah Persekutuan.

The speakers from MAM were En Fazli Mukhtar Affandi, MAM’s Motor Sports Development Manager, En Md Masshoud Md Umar, MAM’s Technical & Safety / Coordinator of Special Project and En Husaif Hatta, Motor Sport Operations. All the three speakers have vast experience and knowledge in motor sport particularly in organizing clubs, national as well as international events.

The Youth and Sports Department of Sabah together with the Sabah Motorsports and Adventure Association successfully gathered a total of 60 participants for a two days Off Road Motorcycle Clinic on 15 – 16/5/2010 at the Off Road Kg Jawa Circuit, Lahat Datu, Sabah.

The clinic session which was held for the very first time in Sabah for the robust motorcycle lover was conducted by Wan Razali , former Motocross racer who is currently the Motor Sport Development Manager in Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM ) Shah Alam, Selangor. Also involved in the two day programme was Muhd Fitri Bin A Rahman, Coordinating Officer from Jabatan Belia Dan Sukan (P) Sabah and Sjn Mohd Kamaruden bin Hambali, Secretary of Sabah Motorsports & Adventure Association and Sjn Ahmad Saipi bin Daud (Treasurer).

The newly launched KBS-PENNZOIL-AAM MALAYSIA RALLY SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP (MRSC) kicks off its first round in Putrajaya, on 15th May 2010, and will be flagged off by our Honourable Prime Minister, Y.A.B Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak. Held in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth and Sports's (KBS) National Youth Day celebration, the rally takes place at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and its surrounding areas.

Officially launched by the Youth & Sports Minister, YB Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Bin Cheek a fortnight ago, this event currently has an entry of 30 cars, featuring seasoned and rookie drivers, including two foreign names in the form of Andrew Miller, a Canadian based in Hong Kong, as well as Lohith Urs Indian rally Champion and Sanjay Takle, from India. The leading local entry is that of former Malaysian Rally Champion, Saladin Mazlan, of Felda Rally team.

Grass Racing Autosports or commonly known as GRA, started their 5th successive autocross championships with a new timing system which will set the standards for motorsports even for grassroot level motorsports in this region. GRA is sponsored by Red Line Oils, Vanli Genuine Parts, Gophers GPS, EcoCoats Surface Enhancement Specialist, Perma Glass, BFGoodrich Tires, ContourHD, Greenletrics, and Acrogain.

The autocross series comprising of 5 rounds this year will prove to be a very competitive one, with the return of BFGoodrich Team comprising of 2 Subaru Imprezas of Ivan Khong and Andy Kow and Lotus Team Malaysia comprising of Marcus Chye. Newly formulated autocross team of Vanli Genuine Parts and new entrant sponsor of PG Perma Glass made up the field with the longest standing team, Team Red Line making up the front runners of this exciting series.

The by-election weekend was certainly enjoyed by Muhd Anuar, Mohd Harith, Rizal Zakaria and Hazlan Shah on Saturday. They got on the podium at the Motocross Championship 2010 which was held at Sungai Dusun.

Muhd Anuar who was the winner for the Cubcross and Classic + CDK Bike stepped up the podium with a bright smile. “I am very happy with my performance today even though my bike has some problems. This winning is due to the encouragements obtained from my team. I feel so happy and proud to get on the podium twice although the competition was very tough” he said. Meanwhile, cubcross category saw a close competition between Mohd Erwan in second place and Mohd Fitri in the third place.

A 3 days technical motor sport course organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia was held at the Ayer Keroh Country Resort in Melaka. The course from April 23-25 was attended by a total of 37 participants from the state of Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Selangor.

Round 1 of the WMK MAM-SIC Rally X series 2010 kicked off on 11th April with 35 drivers vying for various category wins and adding to that, valuable points counting towards the championship. Organised by Wheelspin Events and supported by the Motorsport Association of Malaysia (MAM) along with venue host Sepang International Circuit (SIC) this series saw the inclusion of a new title sponsor, WMK FX GROUP, who upgraded their commitment from series co-sponsor in 2009. Staying on for 2010 are co-sponsors Pennzoil Racing and ONE Communications with more entities pledging their support as this entry level rally series progresses.

The 1st Round for the WMK MAM-SIC Rally X Series 2010 kicks off this weekend on 11th April 2010 at the Sepang International Circuit. Make your way to carpark A3 of the circuit (opposite Petronas on LCCT route) and cheer on those who are competing, improve your photography skills, learn more about competition car preparation & driving, meet the drivers or just make new friends.

Driver line-up includes 2009 junior rally champions, A. Magendran and Mohd Shafiq, best of the best Malaysian autocrossers Ivan Khong, Julian Phang, Mickey Teoh and lady rally champion Gina Finanza, Guanne Khoo and Drift Darling Leona Chin.
