MAM Kart Slalom icon KART SLALOM COMPETITION 2009 SEASON ENDS SUCCESSFULLY

The competition between Mohd Syazuwie bin Zawawi and Muhammad Ammar Rohasreen to grab the Overall Winner title in the MAM Kart Slalom Series 2009 was very stiff indeed. Both of them competed with full sportsmanship.

Due to Ammar’s mistake driving aggressively along the U bend and his slow speed has caused him to lose a lot of time when the competition was taking place. Ammar managed to clock 56.86 s along the 450 meter of the carpark area. He clinched the 5th position and 3rd place for Class KS Cadet.

MAM Autokhana Series icon FINAL MAM KART SLALOM & AUTOKHANA SERIES 2009

The successful turnout in the three rounds of MAM Autokhana Series & MAM Kart Slalom Series 2009 before this in Ipoh received overwhelming response among fans of the motorsports fraternity.

MAM Autokhana has fruitfully gathered competitors from the Klang Valley, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis for the three rounds held before this. The reasonable entre fee promises a challenging track at the Car Park Area of Giant Tambun this weekend.

MAM icon 1st MARSHALLING COURSE FOR 2010

MAM had its 1st Marshalling Course for the year 2010 on 5 – 7 February 2010 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The 3 days course was conducted at Bangunan Daya, Kota Kinabalu and Kompleks Sukan Likas, Kota Kinabalu. The course was jointly organized by Sabah Motorsports & Adventure Association and Motorsports Association of Malaysia.

The speakers were En Fazli Mukhtar Affandi, MAM’s Motor Sports Development Manager and En Md Masshoud Md Umar, MAM’s Technical & Safety / Coordinator of Special Project who was assisted by En Khairul Zaire Zainuddin, the Finance Manager of MAM. En Fazli Mukhtar Affandi and En Masshoud Md Umar has vast experience & knowledge in motor sports particularly in organizing clubs, national as well as international events.

MAM Karting Talent Search icon 20 MAM ROOKIES SET TO BLAZE

The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) Karting Talent Search 2009 has resulted in a list of 20 contenders to proceed to Phase 3 to participate in the National Karting Development Series 2010. The MAM Rookies will be given an opportunity to be moulded into future stars of the single-seater.

Mr Fazli Mukhtar, the Motor Sports Development Manager said, “Out of the 40 karters, 20 karters 10 each from Cadet and Junior has selected based on their skills, determination, commitment, consistency and discipline throughout the selection process. MAM is pleased the talent search programme has helped in the growth of the sports by discovering new talented drivers. We will continue to churn out talents in our programmes with the hope of making Malaysian world champions’.

MAM Karting Talent Search icon SPECTACULAR SHOOT-OUT SESSION

It was a fabulous Sunday for the 40 karters who were selected out of the 174 who took part in the MAM Karting Talent Search which was held throughout December 2009. Today will mark another milestone with the selection of 20 top karters, 10 each from Cadet and Junior to be known as ‘MAM Rookies 2009/2010’.

In the Junior Category, Shaqeer Haire Saiful Rizal, 13 years old from SMK Damansara Utama recorded the fastest time clocking 1.03.6260s closely followed by Daniel Francis, 14 years old from SM Subang Utama at 1.03.7780s.

MAM has identified a total of 40 karters for the Shoot-Out session scheduled on January 31, 2010 for the Kart Camp which was held through out December 2009 in Sepang International Karting Circuit.

MAM icon FAHMI GETS HIS MOTOGP FULL SEASON TICKET
AirAsia-sponsored 125cc MotoGP rider Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin earned the ticket to race in the World Championship and will be the first ever Malaysian to compete on the world stage in the 125GP class.   18-year-old Fahmi will race for Ongetta Team I.S.P.A. and will be sponsored by AirAsia.  Two Wheels Motor Racing (TWMR), Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) facilitated this successful move to have a Cub Prix rider to compete in the international stage.  

Fahmi’s entry in the race is anticipated to raise Malaysia’s standing in the sport.  Fahmi gained recognition in the motoring world by making it to the top 20 as a wildcard rider for the AirAsia Malaysia 125cc MotoGP Team at the Malaysia MotoGP last October.   Fahmi’s main racing experiences were in the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship and in the recent Wild card Programme.   Fahmi, who started his racing career only in 2008, is ecstatic over the opportunity to represent Malaysia in MotoGP.

MAM Karting Talent Search icon ARE YOU 1 OF THE 40 SELECTED?

The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (“MAM”) is proud with the positive feedback and over whelming response obtained from parents for the Kart Camp which was held at the Sepang International Karting Circuit throughout December 2009. The Talent Search was open only to Malaysian school children who are in their primary and lower secondary aged between 7 and 14-years-old.

Mr Fazli Mukhtar, Development Manager of MAM said, “A total of 40 karters will be selected for a Shoot-Out on January 31 based on their commitment and discipline besides the outstanding results achieved".

MAM icon MIA SHARIZMAN MOVED TO LOTUS F1 RACING

Mia Sharizman Ismail, the Chief Executive of Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), has joined the Lotus F1 Racing as its Head of Operations (Asia) effective January 2010. He will oversee selected areas of the team's operations that include promoting and nurturing alliances with motorsports bodies in the region.

Mia Sharizman is also tasked with understudying the Lotus F1 race operations currently based in the UK with the aim of transferring knowledge and expertise back to Malaysia.

MAM Karting Talent Search icon FRUITFUL PARTNERSHIP LEADS TO SUCCESSFUL TURNOUT

The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (“MAM”) is proud with the positive feedback and over whelming response obtained from parents for the Kart Camp which was held at the Sepang International Karting Circuit. The MAM Karting Talent Search was held over eight days throughout December and it is the second time that this event is being held after a successful stint last year. It was open only to Malaysian school children who are in their primary and lower secondary aged between 8 and 14-years-old.

The Karting Talent Search is part of MAM's effort to pick out potential young drivers for the chance to be moulded into future stars of the single-seater. At the end of this Camp, the top 25 highest ranking Cadet and Junior will be selected to proceed to Phase 2 to participate in the National Karting Development Series in 2010. The selected participants will be announced in January 2010.
