SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING ESSENTIAL IN MOTOR SPORT

Melaka, April 26, 2010 – A 3 days technical motor sport course organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia was held at the Ayer Keroh Country Resort in Melaka. The course from April 23-25 was attended by a total of 37 participants from the state of Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Selangor.

The speakers from MAM were En Fazli Mukhtar Affandi, MAM’s Motor Sports Development Manager, En Md Masshoud Md Umar, MAM’s Technical & Safety / Coordinator of Special Project and En Husaif Hatta, Motor Sport Operations. All the three speakers have vast experience and knowledge in motor sport particularly in organizing clubs, national as well as international events.

‘The participants which ranges from students of the local Sek Men Teknik, groups from Rakan Muda and various motor sports event organiser enthusiastically braved the hot sun to practice being a marshal in a simulated rally event with some acts as competitors. With an involvement or two in actual events, they are ready to be a qualified marshal,” said En Masshoud.

Husaif Hatta said, “The main aim of this course is to ensure that all marshals posses necessary skills and understanding of the general motor sports regulations before organising motor sport related activities. The main focus will be to ensure that safety is the primary concern in motor sport”.

A similar course will be held this weekend in Penang for participants from Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Perak. Interested participants can contact MAM for a similar course to be organised.
