The Youth and Sports Department of Sabah together with the Sabah Motorsports and Adventure Association successfully gathered a total of 60 participants for a two days Off Road Motorcycle Clinic on 15 – 16/5/2010 at the Off Road Kg Jawa Circuit, Lahat Datu, Sabah.

The clinic session which was held for the very first time in Sabah for the robust motorcycle lover was conducted by Wan Razali , former Motocross racer who is currently the Motor Sport Development Manager in Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM ) Shah Alam, Selangor. Also involved in the two day programme was Muhd Fitri Bin A Rahman, Coordinating Officer from Jabatan Belia Dan Sukan (P) Sabah and Sjn Mohd Kamaruden bin Hambali, Secretary of Sabah Motorsports & Adventure Association and Sjn Ahmad Saipi bin Daud (Treasurer).

The participants of the clinic session consist of activist in off road motorcycling from Lahad Datu district and Tawau who were revealed with the knowledge of handling their machines when taking part in real competition apart from technical understanding in machinery from motocross to trail and general off road bike.

Apart from that 10 ATV machines from Keningau district also enlivened the atmosphere. As part of the syllabus, participant were also given guidance on roles related to competition or race, marshal, organiser, the need to possess a racing licence which is issued by MAM, insurance coverage apart from types of machines suitable to be used and safety gear and equipment utilised during a race.

The clinic was divided into three phases, theory (classroom), practical (training at the circuit) and demo race. Rather unfortunate as the participants could not follow the demo race due to unsuitability of the track which was lacking in safety requirements and also due to the non favorable weather on that day. We hope the fans and riders of offroad motorcycle will be patient as the Sabah Motorsports & Adventure Association is arranging a race for the Tawau district, Keningau and Pantai Sabah West upon obtaining suitable race circuit and to be accredited by MAM.
